Raw duck

Raw duck has become my regular. It’s a favourtie of mine for a few reasons.

 

1. I love turning up any time, any day and there’s always a table whether there’s 2 or even 6 of us

 

2. I love the relaxed vibe with large concrete tables you share and the beautiful indoor deep green plants scatter around the tables.

 

3. Over to one corner are all their ferments and Kombucha brews which have creative flavours. Ferments are a side hobby of mine because of the probiotic benefits created by the fermenting process. Probiotics help our gastrointestinal system and help to prevent the dreaded irritable bowel syndrome which I deal with daily in my clinical practice. Fermented foods are becoming a fad but it happens to be a fad I agree with. Fermenting is a sustainable approach to food and keeps our good gut bacteria at optimum levels leaving us regular and free from bloating.

 

4. Oh and I can’t forget the food is super tasty providing so much more than a classic British breakfast.

 

A breakfast at raw duck for me includes a skimmed milk flat white, the ferments platter, the dahl with poached egg and naan and top it off a Kombucha infused tea. Or I might choose the slowed cooked egg or the congee like miso porridge with egg and fish flakes. 

 

My tip: If you wake up feeling less than 100% after a good night out make sure you try the ferments or one of the Kombucha teas to help to avoid a 2 day handover.
